After the big rain, I went looking for waterfalls with a fellow photographer.  We found one, high in the mountains.  Hiking was a challenge.  We carried our equipment on our backs, slipping and sliding in the mud.

It was Paradise.  The fall colors and the fog took my breath away.

After shooting we were driving back to the city and stopped in a little town for lunch.

I climbed 387 steps up the Notre Dame towers to get these pictures. I have been challenging myself everyday - my foot is healing well and I am dancing again! (No flat shoes. I see Paris by high heels, now.)

I had a real adventure this morning.

It was very windy.  I got up at 6 AM to get some good shots, which I did, but then I got drenched by the rain. My feet got wet because I can only wear high heels to take away the pressure off the ligament (which I tore when I was shooting from a tree and the branch broke).  But I got my shots!  If there is a will - there is a way.  Pain and weather never stopped me from going to shoot.

This afternoon I got ready to go again but the wind was so bad that I am too light to fight the wind.  Then it started to rain again.

Tomorrow will be a better day for photography.  (I am going out of my mind because I can't dance.)

Cheers!

This picture reminds me of the time my mother introduced me to a Baron.  (My mother was disappointed that I did not like him.) When I saw this, I was laughing all day....

Cheers!

A Walk Through Paris

Living is a Pleasure

Greetings from Paris!

When I landed and went to the apartment I rented, the building was on fire so I had no place to stay.  Of course, everything worked out.

I've been out photographing and wanted to capture the drama from higher up.  I saw a tree perfect for the photo so I climbed it.  And when I was on a branch, the branch broke and took me with it!  I'm fine.  My foot hurts so I won't be dancing today.  But, wow!  What an adventure - life is funny!
Cheers!

Passing Time

People live such a hard life in China.  Maybe that’s why everyone smokes.

Breakfast Tea

Once I learned what it takes to bring me tea from the earth, I savor every cup of my breakfast tea.

Tea deserves to have a ceremony when it is served in honor of those who help bring it to the table.

They are so Beautiful!

You can see what I looked like when I got to be a geisha: http://baronessdanute.blogspot.com/p/is-it-me-youre-looking-for.html  It was a dream come true!

Living with the Mosuo Villagers

One member of the family died so they were having parties and had the monks chanting.  Ringing the bells and everything.  I wanted to take photos but my camera got stuck.

Most Dangerous to Humans

One time I was on safari and suddenly, a hippo jumped out of the bush and our driver almost hit it.  We would have been demolished.  That was in Botswana. This hippo came to the door of my tent. They are grazers.

People worry about getting killed by lions and not the hippos.  But it’s the hippos to worry about.  They are the biggest killer of people.

Mating Season Hostage

It was mating season and very dangerous to be out with the elephants.  Instead of us capturing the elephants -we were captured.  It was exciting!  My ranger was dying.  He didn’t like all the drama.  I loved it.  http://issuu.com/baronessdanute/docs/wildadv_issuu_debut

Breath of the Leopard

While he was walking to the water, he walked right past me, detouring by the jeep.  He was so close, I could hear him breathe.  I grabbed my camera with the 35mm lens.  That’s why the shot is so vivid.

Paw Prints

No one believed me until they saw here paw prints.  Here is the picture of the leopard that came to my tent when I left my screen door open.

We found her the next day, very early in the morning, sleeping in the grass not too far from my tent.  See how sweet she looks.  And so beautiful!

Dancing with the Maasai

The Maasai people live in northern Tanzania and southern Kenya.  Many of them live in Southeast Africa around some of the game reserves.

Unfortunately, the tribe is encouraged to leave their semi-nomadic lifestyle for a modern one.  Although there are programs that encourage the Maasai to do that, many choose to hold on to their culture.  I think they should do what they want.
